They organize the candy scramble and monkey toss for the PTO and we need to do something to show our appreciation. It was decided that we will provide a pizza lunch for them and Elizabeth Shaller will write thank you notes to each of them. Jane also suggested that the PTO next year up the minimum magazine order from 3 to 4, allowing students to participate in the candy scramble and monkey toss. Heather Shield reported the following:
          a. total - $39, 248.92 with a total of $902.95 in donations.

     4. Big Red - Christina Sapp reported tha January 13th was the target date for the next "Big Red Award". Jane asked that since that is our next PTO meeting date, to please change the "Big Red Award" date to another day if possible. Christina would try. Mr. Bell said that he would see if character education could provide some funds to help with cost of "Big Red Award". It was suggested that possibly each teacher could also pick out a student who didn't qualify but who has made a good improvement in grades. Christina will bring it up at their next committee meeting.
          a. total cost for first Big Red - $1618.08
          b. donations for Big Red - $400.00

     5. Newsletter - Jane Mayo announced that she does not have the time to do the newsletter. Amber Golebiewski volunteered to take over. Mr. Bonard added that Gear up will make all the newsletter copies and help distribute. Amber will put newsletter in Gear up's box. Information about the "Big Red Award" and box tops will need to be added to newsletter.

     6. Track - Janet Scott reported that her husband, Gary, and Mrs. Davis looked at the track. He and his company will supply all the labor and equipement if the MMS will purchase needed supplies. Mr. Bell estimated this cost to PTO should be $1000.00. Jane also requested that the PTO put in their yearly budget of $500.00 to maintain the track. A motion was made and approved.

D. New Business
     1. Staff Appreciation - January 13th - Last meeting it was decided to show our appreciation to our teachers each month, January through May, rather than doing it in one week of May. PTO decided to do it on the PTO meeting dates. PTO will need volunteers each month. Elizabeth Shaller volunteered for Jan. 13th. Elizabeth will bring fruit and cheese. A sign needs to be placed in office to notify teachers, Jane said she would take care of it. Shannon Kelley will ask the art teacher to have her students make a sign or signs to say thank you to the staff at MMS.
     2. Add current president to bank accounts - a motion was made to add Jane Mayo, the current PTO president, to the signature card for the PTO checking account.
