Unfinished Business

   1. Magazine sale
          a. Second turn in date is October 20th. This will be the busiest, thus will need many volunteers. Please arrive by 9:00am.
          b. Last turn in date is October 22nd.
          c. Candy Scramble volunteers - need members to purchase candy day after Halloween to get on sale from different stores. Elizabeth Shaller will buy from Wal-Mart, Laura Bishop will buy from Kmart, Janet Scott will buy from Bilo, and Tonda Holbrook will buy from Ingles. Please over fill your shopping carts. Turn in receipts with candy scramble written on them with your name. Put in Heather Shields box and she will cut you a check.
          d. Monkey Toss - Scheduled for Friday, November 12th.
          e. Date for Fun Factory - Tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 29th. There maybe a change depending on if the "Big Red Award" which is also scheduled for Oct. 29th can change to another date. All this depends on scheduling buses from central office.

New Business
  1. Health Fair is November 3rd, 4th, & 5th. Will need volunteers!

  2. Staff Appreciation - It was discussed that we spread out staff appreciation. In stead of having one week celebrating our teachers in May,(May is so busy), that we pick a day out of each month (Jan. thru May) to celebrate our staff. A motion was made and approved. Terri will get gift cards for bus drivers from Ingles.

Committee Reports
    1. Newsletter - Jane announced that Judy Chapman would no longer be able to do MMS newsletter, therefore, there will not be one this nine weeks. Jane volunteered to do it as long as someone could help her make copies and distribute. Elizabeth Shaller volunteered. Jane also asked that we give an incentive to each homeroom class from 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade, that returns the most newsletter that have been signed by a parent or guardian. We will provide a simple treat of donuts and milk. Motion was made and approved.

    2. Volunteer Coordinator - Terri asked everyone to please let her know what you can volunteer for and she will also remind people of their commitment, via email.

    3. SAS - Christina reported that two dates were picked for the first nine weeks "Big Red Award". She will see if the other October (22nd?) date will work and report back to Pat Davis. The destination is unknown as well as the number. Mrs. Davis said that Julia Waldroop was getting the list together as we speak. She will then have a definite number. It will cost $5.95 per child. The"Big Red Award" will need lots of volunteers to go on this field trip. Please, contact Jane Mayo at 349-3530 if you can volunteer.

Funding Requests

  1. Skeleton for Science department - another request was made to purchase a skeleton for the science department. A motion was made that PTO agrees to pay $250.00 right now, asking the science dept. to request the other amount from either the Academic Foundation and or Gear Up.

Other
Pat Davis
   1. Mrs. Davis will be working with SAS and Jane Mayo concerning scheduling the "Big Red Award" and the magazine (sells 12 and over) sales promotion at the Fun Factory. The concern is getting enough buses to transport.

   2. Mrs. Davis asked the PTO to consider partially funding MMS trail which needs repair. Wanda Brown emphasized the importance of this since the P.E. classes use this trail along with the soccer teams, cross country, etc. from MMS and the high school. Also it is used by citizens of Macon County. The Trail is a safety issue. This was discussed and PTO agreed that someone who knows how to fix the drainage problem needs to look at it along with Wanda Brown and Mrs. Davis. Janet Scott volunteered her husband, Gary, to take a look at the trail and give his opinion. Janet will get in touch with Mrs. Davis to schedule.

    3. Dawn Carapazza asked about the status of the intercom system being available to the trailers. Mrs. Davis said that Mr. Bell is still working on that but the main hold up is getting the T1 line connected before it can proceed. This continues to be a concern for the parents of MMS.

He has plenty of volunteers.  Mr. Curtis will provide music since Mr. Corbin is using the speakers otherwise, Mr. Bonard thought he might have to cancel. Big thanks to Mr. Curtis of Radio Shack. There is an admission charge and or food donation. The proceeds will go to the disaster relief.
